Welcome to the Potomac Area FoxPro Users Group,
serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region (D.C., suburban Maryland and
Virginia). Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in
the suburban location of Fairfax, Virginia. We encourage all people with any
level of interest in FoxPro to attend. We are fortunate to have a membership
that includes a number of developers who are renowned for their Visual FoxPro
skill and experience. We often have many Visual FoxPro experts in attendance
who may be able to help you with any programming or development questions you
may have. |

| Feature Topic: |
Dot Net development with VFP backend from a VFP developer's perspective
|
| Presented By: |
Don Rapp |
| Summary |
Although no expert in .Net, I will show how how to query data doing what VFP developers see as standard SQL statements via OleDBProvider, handling parameters to prevent SQL injection attacks
I'll also get into some samples on binding the data to grids, handle formatting and paging. How to customize the look / content of a grid instead of a simple single column/field per row including adding images and such. How does .Net handle postback events from objects.
This will all be done with C#.Net 2.0 and standard VFP OleDBProvider. I'll also show how to implement a multi-threaded VFP .DLL COM server for some more complex calls back to VFP for processing that is otherwise limited through the OleDBProvider.
